Make Mother’s Day Special

very cool and hip wedding table settings for a funky fresh young bride and groom. This is not your mama's wedding! Shallow depth of field with the focus on the fork and glass. One of several in this series.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so you’ll want to think about what you want to do to celebrate with mom. Instead of waiting for a nice restaurant, try bringing a fancy restaurant style to your home. Save time and money, yet create something special for your mother. read more

Don’t you just love Spring?  The weather is warming, the birds are singing and things are beginning to grow.  Green I see green and wildflowers.  Can you tell that Spring is my favorite time of the year?
The front porch is calling me.  I must dust off the rockers and spring clean that area soon.

Today I’ll be sharing some beautiful photographs that were found on Pinterest.  Do you use Pinterest?  I do a little but have a feeling that I’ll be using it more.

Sit back, grab a cool drink and enjoy the beauty of Spring in pictures.

DIY Valentine’s Day Decor

In my normal, everyday life, I am not a big fan of the color pink. I never was a child, and even though I have my own girl now…I still can’t get into it. The one holiday where I will allow for pink, frilly stuff all over my house is Valentine’s Day. Because you just can’t celebrate Valentine’s day without pink and red being mixed in there somewhere.

Here are some simple DIY decor ideas that will get your house Valentine-ready in no time!

DIY New Years Eve

New Years Eve has always been one of my favorite holidays. Before I had my baby, it was because I could do all the partying I wanted and then miraculously on January 1st, I would instantly become motivated. I would work out more and eat less junk food. I would meditate more and shop less. I would swear off drinking and partying. This usually lasted a few weeks and then it was back to normal.

Even after my baby, New Years is still one of my favorites. We all change from our fancy clothes to our pajamas and we cuddle up on the couch to watch the countdown. Some of us will fall asleep (ok, probably all of us) and we will jump when we hear the ball drop. We will eat sandwiches and will toast with cider instead of champagne. The next day, we will all meet at the bookstore to pick up our new books for the year – a tradition my boyfriend’s family has held since he was a little, and have now invited me to join.

In case you are hoping that your New Years Eve will be a little more eventful than mine, I have a few great party ideas to share.

Homemade Holidays: Thanksgiving Recipe, Decor and Craft

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is tomorrow?! Where has the time gone? Judging by all the texts going on between my family members, none of us are really prepared! If you are still wondering what you’re going to make/take to your Thanksgiving dinner…here are are a few options!

Photo from Cherished Bliss

This recipe from Cherished Bliss looks rather harmless as it only has four ingredients, and I imagine it tastes a lot better than that canned stuff! It only takes about 15 minutes to make, so if you are hosting the dinner, do it about an hour before everyone gets there so it has some time to cool down. If you are a guest this year, it would be a perfect present to bring the host(ess). Cherished Bliss is a food and craft blog, and they have a lot of fun recipes and DIY crafts to check out!

This is a simple DIY from Design*Sponge and all you need is some marbled paper, an empty paper towel roll, some mod podge and Krylon Crystal Clear spray! If you are fancy and have cloth napkins at your Thanksgiving dinner, these will be the perfect addition. I have followed Grace Bonney and Design*Sponge for a while, and I have to say that I want to do every DIY I see on there. She also has a budget and difficulty indicator!

Mason Jar Craft Love Meet Linda

This is about  Linda and a Jersey-born-and-bred Midwestern transplant who lives in Chicago with her husband and two children They bought their  starter home in an up-and-coming near north neighborhood in 1995 with a 5-to-7-year plan in mind — and they never left.  They watched from their front porch as the neighborhood exploded with growth.  Houses left and right and right next door were torn down and rebuilt into 5,000-square-feet, multi-level, million dollar homes.  Their  neighborhood school went from “I’m never, ever sending my child there” to one of the best and most desirable elementary schools in the city.
