When I was growing up, Thanksgiving was a mere precursor to Christmas. When we were little, we would get together with our cousins and compare Christmas lists, or get ideas of what to write down. We got older and started picking names out of a bowl with ideas of what that person wanted for Christmas. Soon, we started doing our own thing and Thanksgiving became less and less of an important holiday for me.
That all changed when I had my baby and enjoyed spending time with my family more than my friends, and truly love spending time in the kitchen. Now, I’m excited to get together with everyone, and make some homemade food to bring. Everything is made from scratch, and we all sit around and catch up and enjoy each other. The kids aren’t too busy playing with their new Christmas toys to hang out, and it’s our last holiday before the insanity of Christmas.
Whether you are hosting the Thanksgiving dinner, or you are going to a family member’s or friend’s house to celebrate, here is a recipe and a craft to help make your holidays extra special.
